Abstract:Featuring high-precision positioning and strong anti-interference capability, the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) offers a new solution to resolve the conflict between operation efficiency and positioning accuracy of large center pivot irrigators. This paper introduces the technical advantages and positioning methods of BDS, and compares the merits, demerits and applicable scenarios of various positioning technologies. The research verifies the feasibility and effectiveness of applying BDS to large center pivot irrigators. Nevertheless, practical application still faces challenges brought by complex terrain and extreme weather, along with limitations such as insufficient signal coverage, high costs and obvious positioning drift. In the future, efforts should be made to tackle existing technical bottlenecks, further optimize algorithms, facilitate BeiDou satellite positioning's, wider application in smart agriculture.
