Abstract:Key river basins in Junan County are confronted with prominent problems including worsening water pollution, difficulty in meeting water quality standards, inadequate infrastructure and insufficient ecological management and protection, which severely impact residents' livelihoods and economic development. Targeting bottlenecks in watershed management, Junan County has systematically adopted ecological restoration technologies such as wetland purification and river ecological optimization, integrated smart technologies including precise water quality monitoring and digital twin dispatching, built a recycling system for reclaimed water, and carried out featured initiatives such as water source site remediation and water system connectivity. Remarkable improvements have been made in basin water quality with gradual restoration of ecological functions and enhanced biodiversity. Multiple benefits have also been realized, including improved flood control capacity, elevated land value and integrated development of agriculture, culture and tourism. A water environment protection model with coordinated improvement of ecological, economic and social benefits has been formed, delivering an effective practical example for the sustainable utilization of regional water resources.
