Abstract:Taking the turf slope protection design in the comprehensive treatment project of the Fujia River in Zhanhua District, Binzhou Municipality as a case study, this paper quantifies and accounts for carbon emissions throughout the full life cycle, including building material production, transportation, construction, operation and maintenance, and demolition and disposal, based on the life cycle assessment (LCA) theoretical method and relevant standards, specifications, and literature on building carbon emission calculation. The carbon emission reduction and carbon sequestration benefits of turf slope protection as a substitute for concrete slope protection are systematically compared. The results show that within the 20-year design service life, the net carbon emission per unit area of turf slope protection is 86.9% lower than that of C30 concrete slope protection, and the total emission reduction of the entire project reaches 476.95 t CO2e, demonstrating significant ecological value.
